Why is the creation message relevant?
The following excerpt is from: https://answersingenesis.org/christianity/church/pew-research-why-young-people-leaving-christianity/ In 2009, Ken Ham co-authored a book entitled Already Gone. This book was based on research that Answers-in-Genesis commissioned from America’s Research Group. Through this research they were attempting to answer the question of why two thirds of young people are leaving the church when they go to college. This research revealed that, as early as even elementary and middle school, young people have doubts and questions about the Bible that are going unanswered. Research shows that many of these questions are related to Genesis and scientific issues such as evolution, long ages (millions of years), dinosaurs, and Noah’s Ark. These young people are not getting solid answers from church leaders and parents but, sadly, are often told they can believe in the big bang, millions of years, and evolution; they’re then admonished to reinterpret or ignore Genesis while being told to “trust in Jesus!” These young people recognize the inconsistency of reinterpreting the first book of the Bible and yet being expected to trust the other books that talk about Christ. If we can doubt and reinterpret Genesis, where do we stop doubting and reinterpreting? Forum Purpose The forums are aimed at answering some of the doubts that many years of naturalistic evolution have instilled in multiple generations of people. The fallout appears to be greater today partly because the evolutionary doctrine has been taught as fact to younger age groups and the message has infiltrated nearly every educational, scientific, media (and in some cases) religious enterprise. However, many recent scientific observations from cosmology, anthropology, paleontology, geology, microbiology, genomics, and information science have demonstrated the viability of the recent creation model. At these forums, the audience will hear teaching of the accuracy and authority of the Bible as veteran presenters distill the complex realm of science into messages a fourth grader can understand. The focus will be on the Genesis creation and flood accounts. Those who attend in person or on-line will be equipped to encounter their culture with current information that demonstrates the reliability of the Scripture from Genesis forward and will enable participants to be more bold in their faith and confident in their witness. |
Forum Format
While the messages of most forum speakers will be understandable by interested fourth grade students; older students and adults will find the presentations engaging and meaningful. Some of the material may be familiar, much of the forum will be new and relevant science with interpretations that support the long-held tenets and beliefs of generations of Christians. We trust that the forums will be stimulating for the younger audience and ground-shaking for the others. We hope you will participate, come and be a part of the on-site audience or join online and enjoy fresh and invigorating messages.
